Training Guide
Welcome to the Battle Against Hunger training page. Here you will find our training ride schedule, tips on training for the ride from Gettysburg PA to Trenton NJ, and a series of cue sheets for suggested local training rides.
Rating Ride Difficulty
The two biggest indicators of a ride’s difficulty are it’s length and the total number of feet climbed. On each cue sheet the length, climbing feet and a number of other values that can help determine a ride’s difficulty are listed. There is also a ‘Difficulty’ rating, which is an arithmetic combination of factors that attempts to rate all our train rides on a scale.
Rides are divided into four categories; Easy (0 - 8 miles), Moderate (8 - 20 miles), Difficult (20 - 50 miles), and Most Difficult (50+ miles). As a comparison, each of the half-day 50 mile rides that make up the Gettysburg to Trenton ride fall in the 50 to 80 range.
Join us for our weekend training rides, or use the cue sheets to train on your own. Your physical condition is important and all riders should have ridden at least 300-400 miles (including one 75-mile ride) in the preceding 2 months before participating in this tour.
